B&W shooting and darkroom workshop – NYC 2018
Join me for a B&W film photography and darkroom printing workshop at the Bushwick Community Darkroom on October 13th – 14th, 2018. The workshop will cover the technical foundation for shooting B&W film (metering, exposure and common misconceptions), personal lessons learned, recommendations for shooting different film stocks, developing (pushing and pulling) and an introduction to printing B&W film in the darkroom.
Workshop participants will receive B&W film of their choice in either 120 or 35mm. After the workshop on Saturday we will go on a short photo walk for hands-on practice, trying different metering approaches and exposure techniques. Each participant will have one roll of film collected for overnight developing at the end of the walk.
On Sunday the 14th, we will meet again at the Bushwick Community Darkroom. We will discuss how to read a negative, make a contact sheet of the developed roll and choose one frame to print during a tutored four hour darkroom printing session at either 10am or 2pm (the group will be assigned depending on the format you’re shooting).
Drinks and light refreshments on Saturday are complimentary. The workshop (2 hrs.), walk (1 hr.), darkroom rental (4 hrs.), B&W film of your choice, overnight film development (1 roll), chemicals and photographic paper are included. The workshop is limited to 10 participants.
